Privacy Policy

Overview

Fishers of Men is a private, invitation-and-approval fellowship application for Catholic men. The app is intended for adults (18 years and older). This privacy policy describes how we collect, use, and protect your data.

Data We Collect

The Fishers of Men app collects the following information:

• Email address and password (for authentication)
• Name and profile information, including an optional profile photo and optional phone number
• Messages, replies, and reactions sent in group chats and discussion forums
• Photos shared in the app
• Prayer requests (anonymous or named)
• Event RSVPs and volunteer signups
• Push notification tokens (for message alerts)

Phone number and email address are hidden from other members by default; you control whether each is shown in the member directory from your in-app profile settings.

Third-Party Services

We use Google Firebase (Authentication, Cloud Firestore, Cloud Storage, Cloud Functions, and Firebase Cloud Messaging) to operate the app, and Google Sign-In as an optional sign-in method. Data is processed by Google as our infrastructure provider under Google's privacy terms. We do not sell your data or use it for advertising.

How We Use Your Data

We use your data to:

• Authenticate your account
• Deliver messages, announcements, and notifications
• Store and sync your messages and prayer requests
• Manage event RSVPs and volunteer slots
• Enforce community guidelines and audit administrative actions

Data Storage

All data is stored securely in Google Firebase (Firestore and Cloud Storage) with encryption in transit and at rest.

Who Can Access Your Data

Your data is accessible to:

• You (the user) — full access to your own messages and profile
• Other approved members — can see your name and profile information
• Moderators and admins — can view all messages and user data for moderation and community management

Data Retention

Messages and data are retained while your account is active, unless deleted by you or an administrator. Prayer requests are automatically deleted after 30 days unless resolved or pinned.

Deleting Your Account and Data

You can permanently delete your account at any time from within the app: open Profile → Delete Account. Deleting your account removes your user profile and authentication record and removes or anonymizes the content you authored (messages, replies, prayer requests, RSVPs, volunteer signups, and food signups). This action cannot be undone. If you are unable to access the app, you may request account and data deletion by emailing the address below.

Children's Privacy

The app is intended for adults and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by the “Last updated” date above.
